Pajeon is a type of pancake made from Welsh onions in a wheat-flour batter and fried in oil. First, egg is mixed with water and wheat flour is added to create a thick batter. Seafood and Welsh onions are added, and the mixture is seasoned with salt. This batter is cooked one ladleful at a time in a well-oiled, preheated frying pan. The pancake is made round and flat, and thin threads of red pepper are lightly sprinkled on top. Seafood is called "haemul" in Korean, so these pancakes are also referred to as haemul pajeon.
